🍯 Sweet Victory: Loreto Toorak Wins Gold at the Sydney Royal Easter Show
Share
We are absolutely buzzing with pride! The honey harvested from the hives of Loreto Toorak, lovingly cared for in partnership with Rooftop Bees, has taken first place at the 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show, Australia’s premier honey judging competition.
This is a huge achievement, not just for the school, but for the bees themselves. Under the gentle guidance of Queens Blossom and Kin Kin, the European honeybees of Loreto Toorak have been busy pollinating, foraging, and crafting some of the finest honey our country has to offer. Their dedication to biodiversity, ecosystem health, and sweetness of spirit has truly paid off.
World Bee Day on 20 May was the perfect moment to announce this incredible win. Students and staff came together in celebration, from a lively Waggle Dance led by Environment Councillors Eva and Eloise, to reflection on the vital role bees play in keeping our world flourishing. It’s clear these hives are more than science projects or sustainability initiatives, they are symbols of connection, care, and community.
The Loreto Toorak honey was judged against entries from across Australia by experts at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, and emerged at the top of the podium. This result speaks not only to the health of the bees and the purity of the honey, but also to the deep intention, stewardship, and respect woven into the school’s environmental program.
From all of us at Rooftop Bees: Congratulations to the students, staff, and bees of Loreto Toorak. Your golden honey reflects a golden standard in sustainability and education.
Let this be a reminder: when we honour the bees, the Earth rewards us in the sweetest ways. 🐝🌼
