EY's Rooftop Transformation: A Hive of Activity on George Street
Share
In the heart of Sydney's financial district, EY has quietly transformed part of its office into something
extraordinary, a sanctuary for bees. After three years of planning, consultation, and collaboration,
Rooftop Bees has installed two thriving hives on the level 7 terrace of 200 George Street.
Each hive is home to over 50,000 bees, who forage up to 5km across the urban landscape,
pollinating trees, flowers, and gardens. It's not just about honey, it's about regeneration, balance, and
presence in the environment.
To celebrate the arrival of the bees, EY hosted a live honey tasting for its staff. Employees gathered
to taste honey straight from the hive and even observe a live bee frame. The buzz of excitement
was tangible, it connected people to place, nature, and one another.
The hives are more than decoration. They are conversation starters, team-building tools, and
symbols of a forward-thinking corporate ethos. EY is proving that real leadership includes making
space for nature.
